When using a new technology, spending some time getting to understand how things work is a great idea. In this activity, you will explore the Cadmus environment and its features, and learn how to create and submit a Cadmus assessment.

In this task you will follow the checklist below to complete a number of activities in Cadmus. Please follow the checklist carefully - it is important that you complete each step.

Step 1: Task Understanding

Read the Instructions and Checklist carefully
Read through each step in the Checklist to understand what you will be doing

Step 2:Access your Notes

In the top left-hand corner, click the tab that says Notes
Copy + paste this checklist into the Notes section in Cadmus
Tick off items as you complete them

Step 4: Add Some Text

In the main (right-hand side) section of Cadmus:

Add a heading titled 'Haircut'
Type a couple of sentences about your last haircut 💇🏼
Highlight the title, and use the drop down menu on the far left of the formatting toolbar to choose a size you are happy with
Use the formatting toolbar to make some changes to your text (eg. highlight, change colour, alignment etc.)

Step 5: Paste Some Text

Copy and paste a chunk of text (at least 30 words) from outside Cadmus (from a website, newspaper etc.)
When the nudge appears, click 'paraphrasing' and 'quoting' to see what happens
Close the nudge by clicking the 'x'

Step 6: Explore Cadmus Manual

Click the question mark in the bottom right-hand corner - this will take you to Cadmus Manual - this is where you find information about referencing, academic integrity, library services, Cadmus Help Docs and more
Click through a few of the articles to see what information is available to you

Step 7: Add an Image

Click the image icon in the formatting toolbar (it looks like a picture frame)
Add an image from your computer (bonus points if it's your last haircut!)
Practise resizing your image
Add a caption to describe your image by clicking 'cap'

Step 8: Add a Table

Click the table icon in the formatting toolbar (it's a square with a cross through the middle)
Practice creating and formatting a table
Give the table a title
Try pasting in a table from a spreadsheet

Step 9: Add Some Code

Click the code icon in the formatting toolbar (it looks like this: </> )
Add some code to a code block
Include some inline code
Change the programming language and mode

Step 10: Add a Reference

Add a reference in the References section at the bottom of your workspace

Step 11: Submit Final

Submit your task before the final due date
Remember: You can submit your work as many times as you like before the due date.
Check your email for a submission confirmation email
Congratulations! You have just completed your first Cadmus assessment! 🥳
